I can't believe it's been three weeks since I blogged last! Here are some of the latest going-ons:
LOTS of baseball! GO DANIEL!
Sophia as The Mouse in her Preschool Play, "Good Night Gorilla"
Her lines were: "I'm the Gorilla's nice little friend. I keep track of the Gorilla's snack." And keep track she did . . . and was rewarded with the banana at the end of the play. Hey, the Gorilla was asleep!
Irresistible sugary churro faces : )
Visit to the Golden Spike National Historic Site
(kids plus replica of golden spike that you can't actually see)
ON the actual track--wahoo!
Just can't get enough of the danger . . .
This is the last tie laid on the railroad . . . of course, it's been replaced due to weathering and time and such, but did you notice this? There aren't any spikes holding it to the rail! Cool, huh? They re-enact the Driving of the Last Spike every May 10th--this year it will be the 141st year! Did you know they had a Driving of the Last Spike ceremony with the golden spike in 1869, then replaced it and had another Driving of the Last Spike ceremony with a regular steel spike.
The original replica of the last spike (senza kids). It was, in Livia's words, "smaller than I thought!" and is engraved with the names of the Presidency and Directors of the Pacific Railroad at the time.
Riding the Front Runner (and Trax too--wahoo!) to Daddy's work for lunch over Spring Break
There it is!
They got to sit wherever they wanted on the train . . . note the consistent independence of child #3
I love the absolute joy in the ride!
It was very cool to see the Golden Spike one day, then the Front Runner tracks the next--we compared and contrasted the types of rails, how they were held together, and which was more effective for what kinds of trains . . . it was an unplanned celebration of the evolution of travel!

And Daniel looks like an old pro at baseball! Awesome.
Doesn't a churro sound just YUMMY? My stomach's growling.
